Book Evaluation – March 2011

Book: “The Last of the Cheju Divers” with Magdalena, Michaela and Lenka
Magdalena and Michaela really enjoyed the book. It was a great topic that kept them interested. It was nice as well because it was about women divers, and both students were girls.
Interesting. Lenka has enjoyed finding out information and likes the story of the divers. She seems to enjoy discusssing it with me and using the new vocab she has learnt.

Book: “Adventure Capital of the World” with Marketa, Barbora, Adela, Vincent, Simone and Ester
The topic was great. They learned a lot about the adventure culture of New Zealand. They were interested from start to finish. Great book. I would use it again.
The topic was very interesting. We had many discussions about the difference between Adventure and Extreme sports, and had several good talks about what sports are dangerous, which arent. This allowed a lot of student opinion and original laguage use to justify their opinions.

Book: “Sharks and Dolphins” with Sam, Ema, Adam, Olda and Kuba
Good. They found it interesting and already had knowledge on the subject that they wanted to share. The topic got them talking and often they used the new vocab.

Book: “One Boy’s Journey” with Matěj
Matěj found the topic interesting and as a result has been doing some good work on his project. There are lots of things to be got out of the text and I think he has enjoyed the reading month.
Book: “Wonderful Wild Animals” with Václav, Magdalena and Matěj
The familiar topic of animals, gave the children the confidence to read and complete their work successfully.
Book: “The Story of the Hula” with Anetka
Aneta enjoyed this topic. We spent some time practicing the hula and learning about traditional Czech dances as well. We had a lot of fun with this one!
Book: “Baby animals” with Marie, Aneta, Martin, Marek
They enjoyed the book. They knew the parent animals already, and they liked pretending to be baby animals.
Book: “The Giants Causeway” with Kuba and Nela
The topic of this book was pretty interesting. I had the students find out some old legends from the Czech, and we also read another story about a giant.
FUN WITH READING (LITERACY AND COMMUNICATION):
na základě četby vytvořily děti individuální i společné projekty.
