TEXTBOOKS are not included in the price of a course (their prices are very different).  We do not use textbooks in our programme 4U (we have our own porfolio).

SAFE AT SCHOOL: We will pick up the children in aftercare at their school in Prague or Černošice. We teach right in classrooms of the school in EXTRA ENGLISH programme.

CAMBRIDGE EXAMS

WHAT ARE CAMBRIDGE EXAMS?
Cambridge English Exams are the most recognized qualilfications for students of the English language in the world. They cover all four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing, and they assess candidates´ ability to use different grammatical forms and functions in authentic life situations. We distinguish five difficulty levels (for children and young learners aged 7 – 14 years).

THE EXAMS INCLUDE

CAMBRIDGE EXAMS FOR CHILDREN (YLE)

YLE Exams is a set of motivating language tests in English focused on elementary school children (aged 7-12 years) and provide them with an easy way to improve their English. The exams test all four language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. The main aim of these exams is to motivate children to study. For example, the tests do not contain any evaluation “passed/failed”. Every pupil is assessed using percentage scale for his/her effort. YLE exams are available in three levels: Starters, Movers and Flyers

STARTERS

Basic level of exams for children from the age of 7 who have attended approx. 100 hours of study. Parts of the test: reading and writing (20 minutes), listening (approx. 20 minutes), speaking (5 minutes).

MOVERS

Second level of exams is suitable for children at the age 8 – 11 who have attended about 175 hours of language study. Parts of the test: reading and writing (30 minutes), listening (approx. 25 minutes), speaking (7 minutes).

FLYERS

Third and the most difficult test was developed for children aged 9 – 12 years. It is comparable with exam level Cambridge Key English Test (KET) and it is the first step to the main set of internationally acknowledged Cambridge exams for children and adults. Parts of the test: reading and writing (40 minutes), listening (approx. 20 minutes), speaking (9 minutes).

PET for SCHOOLS

Tests communicative ability of pupils aged between 11 to 14 years in each of the four language skills at the level of two thirds of knowledge necessary for FCE exam. A pupil at this level should be able to manage many everyday situations requiring English with native speakers and foreigners. The exam includes: reading and writing (1 hour and 30 minutes), listening (aprox.30 minutes), speaking (10 – 12 minutes).

FCE for SCHOOLS

FCE is the most frequent Cambridge ESOL exam. It is an intermediate level and requires all language skills. It has 5 parts each of which includes 20% of the whole assessment. FCE is widely aknowledged and required at universities and other institutions. It includes reading and use of English (1 hour and 15 minutes), writing (1 hour and 20 minutes), listening (40 minutes) and speaking (14 minutes).

Advanced CAE

CAE is suitable for those who want to work and study abroad and aim their career at areas requiring English language knowledge. Exam C1 Advanced consists of four parts: reading and use of English (1 hour and 30 minutes), writing (1 hour and 30 minutes), listening (40  minutes), speaking (15 minutes).
